The goal of the New Mexico Makerstate Initiative is to promote digital literacy and excite New Mexico communities about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). The Makerstate Initiative encourages participants to reclaim New Mexico’s rich heritage of making, and introduces exciting new technologies in a fun and accessible way. This unique initiative is led by New Mexico Highlands University in partnership with the New Mexico State Library, a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, the NMHU Department of Media Arts & Technology, AmeriCorps, and local public and tribal libraries and museums across the state.
